cpk levels

can a person have a cpk level over 5000 and not have a stroke or heart attack or heart damage
Avatar_dr_f_tn
Hello there,
CPK is a usable source of energy for muscle, heart and brain cells. Very high levels can be seen in injuries, rhabdomyolysis, myocardial infarction, myositis, myocarditis, malignant hyperthermia and hypothyroidism etc.Other than heart conditions, stroke a muscle disease may result in abnormally high creatine kinase levels in blood.Statin medications can also cause such high values. If this person has no heart problem there is possibility of other conditions mentioned above. Do keep us posted.
Take care and best luck!
