dental anaesthetic

I am 7 months pregnant and have to have a tooth extracted on Monday, due to a crack in the tooth which caused an infection.  In the past, I have had a slight reaction to the local anaesthetic used - after it is injected, my heart races for about 10 minutes.  Should I worry about this?  The dentist said they would use no epinephrine.  Will that help?  I am very nervous about having this done while pregnant - I also have exercise induced PVC's.  Any advice you can give will be appreciated.  I love this forum!!!!   Thanks, Karen.

Please help me if you can...I need to find a way to have several teeth extracted without using the usual kinds of dental anaesthesia.

I had a terrible reaction to a skin test using Lidocaine and Meprivicaine? back in 1989 and will not try anything like that ever again. The anaesthetics used were without any kind of Epinepherine and they were used just two years after I stopped taking Inderal..Which I believe triggered the problem since I was able to use local anaesthetics before I took Inderal, now I can no longer use them and can't go to the dentist anymore.

I've tried and now just live with the problem using good dental hygiene and coping with toothaches from time to time, but now I believe it is getting to a point where I must do something to have the teeth extracted since they are causing inflammation in various parts of my body due to an immune response.I now have very painful Carpal Tunnel and wonder if it's related since I don't use my hands all that much??? Would anyone know?

Having the teeth extracted would be a very risky procedure  for me since every kind of drug under the sun, including vitamins causes severe P.A.C.S. for me and I will not take that route no matter what.I think that I am having allergic reactions with the P.A.C.S since I am allergic to nearly everything.Naturally I don't take any form of medication since I can't tolerate it.I am hyper sensitive to everything.

What I am looking for here is something which I have never been able to find anywhere else before which is an answer to this long term problem..

Please tell me if there is anyway possible that I could have dental surgery and tooth extractions WITHOUT the use of conventional anaesthesia???? Anything safe for someone like me?

Would things like acupunture,hypnosis,ETC... work? Can't use "Laughing gas" either due to a reaction when I was 16.

Could anyone please explain why I had such a severe reation the the local anaesthetics? I had P.A.C.S. that happened constantly for about a month. It was terrifying and I'll never try them again no matter what.Could it of been a mixture of the two anaesthetics that caused the problem? Or just the fact that I had gotten off Inderal two years before? Or an allergic response?Any information would be useful..Thanks!  J.R.

I am truly discussed with  whats going on. You wasted so much valuable space on the posting, for the people who really had a comment with some importance to it you wasted the postings. This is very disturbing to me as im sure it is to everyone else. I dont think any of us really care if you dont like pluto i certianly dont. But i do care that i couldnt comment back to some issues that we all have. Beings that you dont like pluto then why do you even waste your time and fill up space that i dont care to read. I think pluto is a very valuable asset to this forum but that is my opinion and i dont go around and make everyone know it or waste up space saying so.I really think that you need a life and if you want to post mean things to pluto then email him but dont waste my time or anyone elses for that matter. Also the whole issue about pluto tanning and laying the beach COME ON GET A LIFE I THINK YOU PEOPLE ARE TOTALLY OUT OF LINE. Enough said im so sorry for wasting space and venting but i had to because i have had enough.

Read enough already!! Please take note: Stress can be detrimental to your health. Do not ask what you do not want answered, do not read a posting from someone you do not want to hear from, and DO NOT make anymore personal attacks. Take control of your own health and life....stop blaming others for your obvious unhappiness, anger and immaturity.

Lets be kind to everyone including "heartwise".  I am not going to try to analyze what is going on but I do think that everyone needs to relax.  Yes, it is extremely difficult to cope with negative health issues..no one knows that better than I do.  So, for that reason, I really believe that we need to cut everyone some slack.  There are people who post regularly on this site that I would never take the time to read anymore, but that is my choice.  I read the questions that are posted and the MD answers and that is it.  I know their credentials, I do not know others so I prefer to not go down a path in which I have no confidence.

What on earth is the connection between the question posed here and your ongoing tirade about Hank/Pluto, etc???

Everybody on this forum has one or more health issues and that is why they are here. Most of us would like to read intelligent and reasonable posts from the good doctors as well as opinions from the audience of ordinary folks. Your venom does nothing to benefit that.

If you really are so bitterly unhappy and angry, may I suggest you simply go somewhere else? These flame wars are way over the line. You made your case earlier and now you are just beating the dead horse.

PLEASE...give it a rest.

karen,

thanks for the post.

What you may have experienced in the past may have been due to the epinepherine contained in the local. Epinepherine causes locas vasoconstriction and decreases bleeding associated with the area used for anesthesia. This can also sometimes have systemic effects, even at low doses, especially in those prone to palpitations.

If that was the case, then using local without the epinepherine will take care of the problem.

Make sure your dentist knows your pregnant. good luck
