Well I think the French Paradox has been understood. Perhaps the reason is the same as the diverse occurrence of heart disease between Switzerland and the UK. It was found that the answer is due to the amount of cheese consumed in France. I was working in France for two years, and I found it hard to find food NOT containing cheese, they love the stuff. Dairy fat, which is seen as saturated in the UK, actually breaks down differently in the human gut. It produces something more akin to Soap which the body doesn't absorb. A small experiment was done with ten people in each of two groups and over a period of three weeks they ate the same diet, apart from one group having cheese added. Each member had their cholesterol levels tested before the experiment as a base line. At the end of the three weeks, the group with no cheese found their cholesterol the same level. The group who had cheese found their cholesterol had lowered. Whatever the dairy fat contains, it seems to prevent saturated fats in other foods, from the same meal, being absorbed.
I'm not sure if the Swiss eat lots of cheese?

I'm wondering why you have waited three years to ask? Firstly, what is your cholesterol
level high and do you take medication to lower this?
There has been a lot of study and research into dietry factors regarding heart disease and there is no solid evidence to suggest cholesterol levels actually affect your arteries.
There is no conclusive evidence to show taking omega rich foods or omega supplements
has a benefit on your arteries. In fact, an independant study run in the UK showed omega
raised cholesterol levels in some people. The average cholesterol level in switzerland is higher than in the UK and yet the UK suffers far more heart disease. The French eat far more saturated fats than the english and again the english suffer far more heart disease.
The best diet is monkey food. Eat lots of fruit, nuts, vegetables and some protein.
The biggest thing to avoid in your daily diet of life is STRESS.

Vitamin C is fruit or fruit drinks.
You can eat anything in moderation, but the key is to have your cholesterol level monitored to see if your diet is healthy enough. Some people can eat bags of donuts every day and never increase in weight or cholesterol (lucky gits), but others end up the size of a house and blood thicker than soup. So, you need to individually monitor your cholesterol and keep adjusting your diet until you reach the desired levels.

If you do not get Amway Salmon omega capsules, you may use Cardepa or Maxepa or Seacod Active

You should eat high fibre diet i.e., whole grains, fruits and vegetables with adequate good quality protein and omega 3 oils.Vanaspati , margarine,  bakery foods,processed/packaged foods, maida, white rice should be avoided.Sugar should be minimized. If you are diabetic, eat only water melon and papaya.Avoid root vegetables.Eat foods rich in potassium.Use low sodium salt in small quantity.Avoid normal salt.
Doctors do not give anything that boosts the strength and immunity of a patient. They are dead against nutrition. Please try the following:
1.Amway protein powder and or egg whites
2.Amway Salmon omega fish oil capsules 4 daily
3.Bio E capsules 4 daily
4.Vitamin C 2000 mg daily
5.Niacin NF 2 tablets daily
6.Carnitor(Levocarnitine) tablets
7.Co enzyme Q10(CoQ or Ecozyme) 90 mg daily
6.Cobadex 1 capsule daily
7.Homoeopathic tonic Crataegus mother tincture 3 times daily
These may help you to withstand the disease, angioplasty and the large number of medicines
Statin drugs given  for cholesterol reduction  reduce synthesis of Co Q10 and lead to wekness of heart muscle.Aspirin can cause bleeding in GI tract.Deficiency of vitamin C results in high cholesterol.Vitamin C and niacin help in reducing cholesterol safely.Vitamin E and omega 3 are anti coagulants.Do not use refined oils, specially sunflower or safflower.Refined sunflower or safflower oils contain neither vitamin E or omega 3.Hence, they are dangerous unless you take lots of vitamin E and omega 3.Unrefined oils like mustard oil (kachi ghani Dhara brand)or extra virgin olive oil  or even groundnut oil or gingelly oil can be used without heating. No oil should be used for cooking.Flaxseed meal is also good.Fenugreek, blackgram, fish , walnuts and even almonds(10 per day as a mid meal snack) are good. Fresh chutneys made from peanuts, sesame seeds or coconut can be used You may use a little butter or ghee for cooking. pl visit www.paulingtherapy.com and www.vitamincfoundation.org
