dyastolic disfuntion of heart

My mother has been diagnosed with dyostolic disfunction on the right side of her heart.  How serious is this condition and what can she do to strenghen her heart?

Right side DD is not as common as LV DD, but the problem is the right ventricle does not fill with blood very well with blood gathered from the system to be pumped to the lungs for oxygenation. The underlying cause usually is due to pressures the right ventricle pumps against and that enlarges the heart walls.  Enlarged and thickened heart walls lack the elasticity of normal chamber walls and do not fill to full potential and less than a normal supply of blood is received to left ventricle to be pumped into circulation. That is the eventual outcome if the condition is not controlled or effectively treated.

High pulmonary pressures is not the only cause for RV DD. There could be a pulmonary valve insufficiency due to narrow orifice (stenosis) or the valve may not close adequately.

Treatment would be to reduce the after flow of the rightside's resistence with mediation.  If the problem is the valve, then that condition can be treated, etc.
