Hello,

I am sorry to hear that your daughter is having health problems.  

To be honest, looking at numbers from M mode are about as confusing to me as they are to you.  It is easier for to interpret echos by looking at the study.  It is easy to get a second opinion here.  Call the main operator at 216-444-2200 and ask how to schedule an appointment with a pediatric cardiologist (unless your daughter is in 16,17,18 range, an adult cardiologist can see people that age).  I am not sure where you live, but the important thing is to go to a high volume pediatric cardiology surgery center.

If my daughter were being considered for open heart surgery, I would get a second opinion as well.

I would advise you (if you haven't already) to get personal copies of all your daughters echos and EKGs ( I am talking about the actual ECHO not the report) This can help any future doctor in comparing the progress of your daughter, as something can be alarming if it suddenly appears, vs being there for a long period of time.

thanks everyone  my daughter is 21yrs old but mentally impaired and i am her guardian for medical purposes
my biggest concern here is the fact that she has gone from mild mitral regurgitation in march 05 (she has always had slight leakage due to an anuerysmal bulge, possible tissue, of anterior mitral leaflet near the mitral-aortic junction)to now moderate/severe regurg. she also now has mild/moderate tricuspid regurgitation. she is currently on 25mgs. coreg 2xday and vasotec 2.5mgs 2xday.  from what i have gathered through research, there seems to be a window of opportunity for mitral valve repair in terms of ejection fraction   her LV EF is 45% now. i am very worried that if the regurgitation becomes worse, causing further problems for the left chamber, then this surgery will not be able to be done, making her prognosis much worse.  we recieved the diagnosis of dilated cardiomyopathy in march of 2005, and i fear that medication intervention is not working.
any input at this point would be greatly appreciated  thank you
