I don't believe you have a heart problem based on your stress test result. In fact to complete 15 minutes without exceeding the your exercise heart rate (220 minus age) is very good...My stress test was halted after 7 minutes due to vital sign monitoring that indicated too much stress.
It is possible to have a respiratory disorder but that usually gets worse (shortness of breath) with exercise!.
The 1.32 dimension should not be of any concern. If that were a problem, other signs and symptoms should be apparent!.
Hi Ken
My cardioloigist says don't worry but i have symptoms of feeling breathless, how do i determine if my condition is pathological or not ? i compeleted a 15 min strees test quite easily do u recomend any further tests ?i am on beta blockers as i suffer from sinus tachcycardia so i am unsure what my resting puklse is ? sometimes it is in the late 40's early 50's but i no longer know what my resting pulse is. Is 1.32 a worry ???
An "athlete's" left ventricle can enlarge and the heart pumps very efficiently and is not pathological. Almost everyone that has a non-pathologically enlarged heart will have a pulse rate below normal (60 bpm) sustained at rest.
The septal wall is the wall that separates the left and right heart chambers. If pathologically enlarged (normal is 0.6 - 1.1 cm), the condition can impede the chamber's filling volume as the wall is less flexible and the size begins to crowd out the normal capacity. It can be serious when the condition reduces blood volume to the extend there is a lack of oxygenated blood pumped into the system and heart failue. Also, an enlarged septum can cause arrhythmia.
