i'm confused about my echo report. i hope i can get some clarification as the doctor wasn't very helpful. i have a history of lupus, migraines, ischemic colitis, hypothyroid..i am seeing the cardiologist for shortness of breath, palpitiations, chest pain, tachycardia:
Left Ventircle: The left ventricle is normal in size, thickness and function. The left ventricle ejection fraction is normal. The ejection fraction estimate is between 65-70%. No regional wall motion abnormalities noted. Spectral Doppler of the mitral valve is reversed, with an E/A wave ratio 10. The pulmonary vein S/D ratio is abnormal at 1.9. Left ventricular flow propagation velocity was greater than 55cm/sec.
Right Ventricle: The right ventricle is normal in size, thickness, and function.
Atria: The left atrial size is normal. The left and right atria are normal in size. The right atrium is normal in size. There is no Doppler evidence for an interatrial shunt.
Mitral Valve: The mitral valve leaflets appear thickened, but open well. The mitral valve is grossly normal. There is moderate mitral regurgitation.
Aortic Valve: The aortic valve is not well visualized secondary to technical issues. The peak pressure gradient is 9.2mmHg. The mean pressure gradient is 6.0 mmHg. There is trace aortic regurgitation.
Tricuspid valve: The tricuspid valve is not well visualized, but is grossly normal. There is mild tricuspid regurgitation. Right ventricular systolic pressure is elevated at 25-30 mmHg.
Pulmonic Valve: The pulmonic valve is not well visualized. There is a trace or physiologic amount of pulmonic regurgitation.
Great Vessels: The aortic root is normal size. The pulmonary artery is not well visualized, but is probably normal size. The inferior vena cava appeared normal and decreased >50% with respiration (RAP 5-10 mmHg).
Pericardium/Pleural: There is no pericardial effusion.
