echocardiogram

Dear Dr.
Five years ago I had and echo test done and was told that I had mitrovalve prolapse with no regurgitation. Lately I have been having tightness with exercising and even sometimes tightness going up steps. Should I go back to the cardiologist for another echo test or not? I also take synthroid for low thyroid because of graves disease 20 years ago. I took the radioactive drink method. I also suffer from Raynods Phenomenon.

I was on the Fen-Phen thing for 7-8 months. I recently had an echocardiogram. The report I recieved showed results:

   LA size: 3.5
   End diastolic dimension: 4.8
   End systolic Demension: 2.6
   Posterior wall thinckness: 0.9
   Septum thickness: 0.8
   Ejection fraction: 76.0

   Aortic Root: 2.8

   RV size: 1.4

The nurse told me over the phone that "Basically, I had no problems. But I also noticed on the report, "TRIVIAL MITRAL REGURGITATION".

I have had some mild pressure, in the heart/chest area, cramping legs, slight nausea w/some dizzeness.

Because of the diet pills' reputation and some of the studies, should I be concerned with the "Regurgitation?"

I am not familiar with the heart functions out side of pumping blood and oxygen.

I am a 29 year old female.  I just had an echocardiogram because my Dr. heard a heart murmur.  The results said "left ventricular size is normal.  There is mild global hypokinesia.  The ejection fraction approx. 40 - 45%."  The impression from the cardiologist stated: Mild impairment of left ventricular function, global in nature.  Ejection fraction 40 to 45%.  Otherwise normal echocardiogram without overt valvular disease.  My Dr. has ordered numerous blood tests and also another test know as a MUGA.  Could you please tell me what this means?

I have been having a pain in my chest for about a week now. I went to the doctor and he said I pulled a muscle. The pain is located in the center of my chest along with upper back pain. Every now and then the muscles in my arms ache. My head hurts at times also. I don't understand. I had an echocardiogram this summer and everything was ok. I panic about the situation because I have a history of heart disease in my family. If you have any information you can share with me my email address is ***@****

I think you should definitely go back to your cardiologist for a repeat evaluation. This evaluation will likely include a repeat echo to assess whether you now have mitral regurgitation.
