electronic devices and defibrillator

My father is recovering from a massive heart attack, during which he sustained some brain damage.
I wanted to buy him one of those hand held Nintendo DS systems for Christmas because they have quite a few memory and "brain" type games available which might aid in his rehab.
Can he use one of these devices if he has an implanted defibrillator??
Thanks!

I wouldn't think there would be a problem, but you may want to check with his EP just to be sure...I never saw it on the list of things to avoid when I got mine.  I sit with the grandkids when they use theirs and have never noticed any issue...

The rule of thumb I was given when I got my AICD is any DC device (battery operated) should be kept a foot away from an ICD.  I don't think your father would have any problems with a Nintendo at all.
