failed bypass grafts

failed bypass grafts

Hi!  I would appreicate any advice re:  what to expect after bypass graft failure.  In 1/09, I had a five-way bypass procedure, with arterial grafts used for three and venous grafts used for two.  In 5/09 I began experiencing angina again and a stress echo revealed some abnormalities in the area of the two venous grafts.  On 7/7 I underwent a angiography which revealed that both venous grafts had failed and that one of them was already shriveled up.  The surgeon elected to place a third stent in the original RCA that already had two stents, and he successfully restored blood flow there.  He could do nothing about the second failed stent, which had bypassed an occluded diagonal artery.  At this juncture, I don't have any clear idea about what the future might hold.

I'm simply unsure about what to expect now.  I've had 5 stents, one heart attack, and many angiograms over the last 11 years (I'm 58, not diabetic, not overweight).  It seems that no repair lasts very long.  I would appreciate any advice/experiences that others may have had regarding failied bypass grafts.  Thank you!  Tom

Right now you are just buying time until the new medical procedures are done in the US.  We know that some people grow new arteries to reroute the blocked arteries.  My grandfather was in this study many many years ago, because his heart grew new arteries.  Stem cell is the answer and it is being done in other countries with success.  I have spoken in person with several cardiologists and heart surgeons who said that soon within a few years, there will be no need for open heart surgery.  Procedures will be done through catheters and there will be stem cell being done to repair damage after heart attacks and grow new arteries.  Search and find information on stem cell research and procedures being done in our countries.
