female hormones and vascular system

What effects do fluctuating hormones have on the vascular system and heart?  I am talking about the hormone changes when using the BC Pill, and the fluctuating hormones during perimenopause.  (age 44).  Any information whould be welcome, as my doctors cannot seem to give me an answer.

Dear cute,
In general, female hormones have a beneficial effect on the cardiovascular system.  This is one of the reasons why women have less heart disease and an older onset then men.  Unfortunately it does not appear that these benefits are also extended during hormone replacement therapy after menopause.  The fluctation of the levels during perimenopause is not known to have any adverse effects on the cardiovascular system.
