I'm a 46y.o. white male. Non smoker. About 5yrs ago I changed my lifestyle drasticaly, for the better. Lost apprxmtly 20-25lbs. I'm now at an avrg of 17% body fat. BMI in the good/very good range. Eat better than most. Exericise 3-4 times per week, both cardio and resistance. Just did my 4th 1/2 marathon, always bettering my times by about 15-20mins. Very littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys alchol ( 15 beers per yr or so ). Strong regime of anti oxident and anti cholesorol which also includes baby asprin, Vit E, EFA's & potassium supplementation. Cholestoral in the good range as well as Lp a, Homocysteine, CRP etc) I have, since childhood, besides being a Horrible speller, had a slightly high BP and HR. Have always felt fine though. Still do, but my BP is now around 140/90, sometimes higher and my resting rate is around 80 or so. I do have Wolf Parkinson White syndrome which I have been told is not very significant (6 short- 5mins- episodes per yr avg) & does not effect my HR unless in an episode. Recent sonogram shows everything is great. What gives? Should I worry? Should I go on Beta Blockers for the rest of my life? I have read that individuals on BP meds have the same lifespan as those not on them? Would this increase my mortality rate? What are the long term harmful side effects (if any). Searching for answers.
Thanks!
Tim
