fresh blood after passing stool

Dear Doctor, Thanks for your time in reading my post and your valuable advice. My father suffered a heart attack on 18 of June and discharged on 24th. He'shome now waiting for the angiograph appointment which is fixed on the 25th of July. My father says its not a heart attack he feels fine.
Today he had blood afterhe passed stool before breakfast.I want to know what tests should i be expecting to get done. Is the medication affecting his rectum ? Should i ask the doctor for change of any of the medicines??
His BP reading for today is 120/74 pulse 64 and 115/64 pulse 76 before and after breakfast.He has always been healthy and does not suffer from BP diabetes or any other illness. He's had back surgery and bad sitting habit since 2002. He had gall bladder treatment using homeopathy. His medication is Diovan 40mg changed from Zestril  10mg due to non stop cough, Plavix and b.aspririn, zocor and lepressor 25mg per day. I would appreciacte for your advice re whats the next step. I could not find his doctor today as its a govt hospital. My dad is very sure its the medication thats giving him side effects.

Fresh blood/bright red blood is usually due to a hemorrhoid or some kind of little tear in the rectal area. Perhaps he needs a stool softener to ease things along. Not sure if the Plavix or baby aspirin is making him a bit more prone to bruising and bleeding.
