I would think the incision has healed long ago so there wouldn't be any bleeding, bruising or swelling at the site. And it's so small I doubt there would be any significant scar tissue. I've had 3 ablations and can't even find the areas that were cut, not even a tiny scar. I have no idea what could be causing the pain unless you have a tender lymph node. If it continues to hurt or it's very painful, ask your doctor. Something's not right.

Funny I found your post. I have  pain in the right groin area that feels like my underwear are too tight.  I've stopped wearing pantyhose, thinking this might be the cause. It was bothering me most when I drove or sat for long periods of time. Now it wakes me at night. It is in the same area that I had a cardiac catheterization (all negative) 15 years ago. Don't think this has anything to do with it, just to pinpoint the area of pain. Did you ever check with your doctor? Are any doctors reading this post? Heart is fine. Just went through thalium stress test. Passed with flying colors.

I had a heart cath also in June of 2010 and it is October and the site still has the aching pain from day one.  I sometimes think that Drs. think this is all in my head...I hear "I have never heard of that before".  My father had a heart cath and ever since he had radiating pain in his groin.  The Dr. at our Pittsburgh hospital said he had never heard of it.  My dad passed away 4 years after the heart cath and complained everyday about it.  He was shot up in WWII and never said a word about it. So he wasn't a whiner...someone has to find out what is causing this to help those of us who have this pain.  I am 50 and don't want to live with this hopefully another 40 years.

If infection is ruled out, there may have been some nerve damage.  Have you consulted a neurologist?? Some posters in this topic have reported pain and what may have happened  is the the femoral nerve (which lies along side of the femoral artery) may have gotten "nicked" or traumatized during the procedure. This may be something that will wear off (in months or more) -- it also may be something a neurologist can test for and treat.

Hope this helps, and thanks for sharing.  If you have any followup questions you are welcome to respond.  Take care and I wish you well going forward.
