My brother recently died.  The cause of death was
1. severe apherosclerotic cardio vascular disease
2. cardio megaly chronic obstruction pulmonary disease

Could you explain what these condition are?

Sorry for your loss.   Atherosclerosis is the formation of arterial lesions that eventually block blood flow.  Chronic obstruction pulmonary disease (COPD) is the obstruction of the flow of air out of the lungs.  

COPD is a general  term for chronic bronchitis, emphysema and a range of other lung disorders. It is most often due to tobacco smoking, but can be due to other airborne irriitants such as coal dust, asbestos or solvents, as well as congenital conditions. It is the 4th leading cause of death in the U.S.

Megalocardia is an enlarged heart...thickening of heart wall muscle. Can cause heart failure, as the heart is unable to contract effectively and cardiac output is reduced accordingly.
