heart arrhythemia or ectopic heartbeat?

heart arrhythemia or ectopic heartbeat?

Hello. I would appreciate any words of wisdom. I have experienced ectopic heartbeats after the birth of both my children. My son is 18 months old now and these pac's will not go away. On two separate occasions I felt more than a pac.       I made a sudden movement and it caused my heart to feel very irregular. I have been to the er, and I see a very good cardiologist. I have had 3 echo's 2 stress tests, and numerous ekg's. I have also had the month long event monitor.  I have normal results for all these tests. ( besides pacs) Because of these two episodes   I have developed anxiety. My question is- if there was some sort of arrhythmia would these tests pick up on something? I am terrified that my doctor is missing something. Do these tests show an electrical abnormality? I have never felt my heart race, just these etopic heartbeats. Has anyone else had these problems after  childbirth? Your reply is much needed. Thank You.

Honestly, I would love to be in the shape you are in.  Sounds to me like you have had a good work up and nothing serious has shown up.  One cannot be 100% sure of anything, but I do not believe you have a problem at all.  The 30 day event monitor would have picked up something (but some arrhythmias can be elusive)
If you do not feel any dizziness, you are in good shape.

The next test would be an EP study but in your condition I doubt your cardio would recommend it.

mariop, On one of my scary episodes I did become dizzy, but I also stood up extremely fast. Could that have been blood pressure related?

There are several of us who have developed problems with increased palpitations following the births of our children.  I'm one of them.  My son is 14 months old and this has been an ongoing problem since he was 3 months old.  It is improving, but it takes watching my diet (keeping it healthy and free of junk food), exercising regularly and making sure I get my 6-8 glasses of water a day.

You are not alone.  Your tests sound extremely reassuring!

The tests you have gone through are designed to pick up abnormalities such as arrhythmias and bloodflow problems.  But there is no test that is 100% foolproof; so no matter how good the test results there's always the possibility that it failed to pick it up.  But if all the tests you have taken show good results then you do not have any good reason to think that you are having a heart problem.  If symptoms like dizziness persist for a while, then the problem maybe something else, maybe an ENT problem.

Thank You, for your insight.  I have always been healthy until postpartum. I am trying hard to not let these things control my life, but they seem to hit when I am least expecting it.  Annacade, after one of my scary episodes I was so thirsty   that I could not get enough to drink.  At the time I was breastfeeding and probably not drinking enough. Do you think de-hydration can cause your heart to       do funny things? I just wish my doctor could give me more insight. You guys have  been very helpful, I feel better already.

Dehydration is a HUGE trigger for me, absolutly!  Breastfeeding also places additional nutritional demands on your body, so be sure you're getting enough to eat.

I think the key is balance, like everything else.
Dehydration may be a trigger, however, you don't want to over hydrate either. I think that will disturb your electrolyte balance as well. 8-12 8 oz. glasses of water is the recommended daily amount. A litter more if your very active.
