heart beat

Why do I hear my heart beating in my ear?

by CCF-M.D.-KE, Oct 30, 2002 12:00AM
Dear 4thmarine,

This may represent palpitations, which is when a person is able to sense their own heart beat. This sensation may not be suggestive of any underlying abnormality. However, if you are experiencing any exertional chest pain or unusually rapid heart beat you may consider making an appointment with your doctor.

Thanks for your question,

Have you had your ears checked lately?  If you have wax or fluid built up around your ear drum, this may be the reason you are aware of your heart beating.  Many people with ear problems also report being aware of noises when they swallow.  Just a thought.

Is it just me being harsh but is that really an honest need to know question for a heart message board. Geeze man look at some of the people that have been trying to get a serious question through. Throughout the entirety of your life you never asked anyone else that question ? I haven't posted before but that question really is I think Lame. I was suprised it got an MD response and a compashionate poster.
