Ed is right.  The list helps people stay on track in stressful situations.

You say the doctors will not explain things to you?  I don't know what country you are in, but in western countries, even the rudest doctors will indeed explain things to relatives of a patient--IF the relative is both polite and very, very firm with them!

To find out what you need to know from the doctors who have all the information about your father, you are going to have to assert yourself and be a spokesperson for your dad.

We here are not doctors.  We know a little about some medical conditions, but we simply do not have enough information to give you the information you need.

Next time you go, take a list of questions with you to ask them.

The meaning depends *enormously* on a number of very individual and specific findings on the EKG, as well as on other laboratory values.  However, in a patient with heart symptoms, a flattened T-wave can mean that the heart  is not getting enough oxygen, which is obviously not a good thing.

As I said, though, these are things you should be talking about *with* your father's doctors, who are familiar with his medical status.  Is there a particular reason you are not asking them?

Based on the information you have provided, it sounds as though this patient's condition is serious.  However, that is only a guess based on a very, very small amount of data.

Really, only his doctors know his medical history, have examined him, and made their recommendations.  I strongly suggest you present your questions to the physicians in charge of his care. That will give you the answers you actually need.

Diabetes is a dangerous condition and must be controlled if other organ systems are to remain healthy.  This person's fasting blood sugar is 250+, which indicates that his diabetes is not under control.  If the blood sugar has been high for many years, then there is unfortunately a good chance that the heart, the blood vessels, and the kidneys may all have become diseased and perhaps badly damaged.

Diabetes can cause pains in the extremities called 'diabetic neuropathy.'  However, such pain can also be due to changes in the pH values of the blood, which in their turn maybe be caused by kidney disease.  There are many, many other causes, as well.

Excessive sleepiness likewise has many causes, but certainly problems with blood sugar and poor circulation are among them.

I suggest you google 'Risks and complications of uncontrolled diabetes' to gain a better understanding of what this patient is experiencing.
