heart problems

TSC
I am a 27 year old female.  For the past year and a half I have been experiencing some puzzling health problems.  I have been bounced from pyhsician to pyhsician who all recognize there is a problem, but are just not sure what it is.  I am having a strong heartbeat (not fast) that is constant at all times.  I am concerned because this strong heartbeat has been getting worse over time.  When I am lying down I can feel the bed moving or the chair moving with every beat.  When I am standing I can feel my entire body moving with every beat.  I have had an ekg done, which was normal.  I have had several echos done, all which are normal but say that some areas of the heart were not able to be seen.  On my last visit to the cardiologist he recommended I see an endocrinologist. He felt that it might be hormones causing these problems.  The endocrinologist found that I have low potassium and a defiency of 21 hydorxy.  However, the endocrinlogist said this would not effect my heart, other than the potassium being low.  I started taking potassium supplements, and now my K is normal, and I am still having the syptoms described above.  In addition to these tests, I also had a ct scan of my chest.  I have a history of ankylosing spondalitis in my family.  The cardiologist thought maybe my chest had changed formation and there might me extra pressure on my heart. So, i had ct scan of my chest and this was normal.

At the point I am concerned about what my next step should be.
What are your suggestions?  Thank you for your time.

I have been reading these for awhile and you all make me feel better, I am sure that we are all here for some support, as we are all worried.  All of our conditions are some what different, but yet the same.  We all experiance anxiety as a result to our pvc's ect...and it does help to find people that go through the same things.  I feel that the last thing ANY of us wants, is hearing negative remarks about our conditions, no matter the severity.  Sorry to hear that you,PAUL PAULSON do have a severe heart condition, but being hateful to others is not going to make any of us feel better including yourself.  I am sorry for whatever life has thrown you, that you are so angery, but I feel alot better reading these questions from others that sound like my conditions and hearing what the doctors have to say about them.  It has helped me alot and I hope that others find the relief that I have by coming here.  So if you have a question about your heart and want some info I suggest you join the band wagon or get some help youself, as that sounds like your favorite thing to say, coming from other sites you have visited.  So to all of you others, I want to say thank you, none of you have any idea how much you help me.

Hi, new here. I used to have surges of fasrt heart rates like you. I've had the usaul tests done(eck, echo, holter) all came back normal.
I now take BISOPROLOL 2.5mg once a day in the evening. It has really helped with my fast heart rates and I used to get 100 or so pvc a day, I now get maby 1-2. I recomend a BB If the doctor aproves it.

I agree with the Doctor's response.  Anxiety can play a huge role in palpitations.  It is always wise to rule out any other causes though.  Stress reduction and relaxation therapies will really make a difference as well as your prozac etc.

i also have had a strong heart beat since my ablation. i took a beta blocker because i also have a fast heart rate and it went away completely but it made my pvc's worse and my already 82/56 blood pressure go waaay to low. i think a beta blocker would work for you if your heart rate isnt already too slow. kim

You have possibly become "heart aware" which simply means you are aware of your heartbeat. You can see a Psychiatrist and learn some ways to get your mind off your heart. Good luck.

tsc,

From a cardiac standpoint you have had a pretty extensive work up. Your symptoms are consistant with palpitations and if you read through some of the post, you can see that even though benign they can cause alot of suffering.  Its hard to tie your endocrine problems specifically to the problem.

A few suggestions:

Read through the old post to see how some people have dealt with them.

Make sure you have an good internist to coordinate all of the subspecialy opinions you are getting.

good luck/
