Your heart rate falls within the range for a normal adult, 60 -100 beats per minute. The lower your resting heart rate, the more it indicates a healthy heart. Although 80 is in range, it is a little high for a resting heart rate. There are many beta blockers and not have the same reactions. I would try what your doctor has prescribed and if it does not work, there are other options available. Just keep working with your doctor until you find one that works.

Remember, a high resting heart rate means that your heart is most likely out of condition. If your doctor will allow it, you should add some exercise to your daily routine as that will strengthen your cardiovascular system and bring down your resting heart rate as well. Mine dropped from the mid 70s to the mid 50s since I started to exercise, it is great for high blood pressure as well. Just something to discuss with your doctor.

Hope this helps,

Jon

Thank you very much for your help dr gave me diazipam today to help me with getting panic attacks which i get when my heart starts going funny. I will go back to him and ask to try another beta blocker. Do yo know if diltiazem is  a good one and does it help with high blood pressure as well as heart rate.sorry to ask all these questions.

Thank you so much
