heart rate

I am a 54 yr old woman. Exercise daily, height 5"4" weight 110. No health problems at all. I have experienced SVT. It happens about once a month and last about 10 minutes. During episodes my heart rate gets up to 220. The doctor put me on digoxin. I am wondering if I should be taking this considering what I have read.

cpont,

There are different types of SVT.  The approach generally involves defining exactly what which type of rhythm is causing your symptoms.  This is generally done with holter or event monitoring.

Once determined the treatment options depend on the type of rhythm. I do not routinely use digoxin as first line rate control for most SVTs.

hope this is a start
