heart

about 3 weeks ago i was at work and my heart starting feeling like it was beating in my throat or skipping a beat. i have felt this before (only once in a blue moon) but this time the skipping feeling  were very close. i let the school  nurse check me and she said that i was having PAC's -i told her that i had taken a phentermine that morning around 9:00 am but this episode was at 2:30 pm and she said that it was probably the diet pill- but i have taken those same diet pills for about 4 years on and off and they had never done that before- but she still said that is what it was..my pulse got to around 160 and i was having some pac like 4  to 5 in a row. i used to have panic attacks but i havent had any in 8 or nine years but i think i had one that day  because it really scared me when i put my hand on my throat and i could acyually feel the pulse like skip!!  i have been so nervous ever since this has happened- now since it has happened -everytime i feel the least bit different i am feeling my pulse.. i went to the doctor the other day and he didnt hear anything, my pulse was 88, my blood preasure was 110/72-which he said was great, and he even did a ekg that was normal. evey now and then  will feel my pulse and i feels hard then other times it feels real light- i dont feel bad but i feel a flutter every now and then -but it might just be me panicing about it happening again- oh i am a female , white, 35 years old - and i am healthy as far as i know- do you think i need to go to a heart doctor- i this something that could be a sign of anything life threating??? thanks

it is probably nothing. like everyone says. but get it checked out for your peace of mind. also yeah those diet pills probably cause panic attacks if not heart related stuff. They are horrible for you. Work out instead. Aerobics

Any type of stress or excitement (good or bad) will cause your heart rate to rise. That is normal. The pounding or skipping   is probably harmless but until you can record it on an event monitor, it's all guess work for us. It sounds like you're concerned so it would be best to talk it over with your doctor. Hope you get some answers soon. Just out of curiosity - are you still taking the diet pills?

Depending on how often it happens, but the event recorder is more likely to catch it because you wear it for a longer period of time.  This may very well be Phenteramine related.  It is one of the reasons to stop using it.

You should not use phenteramine, it has been linked to heart and lung problems in the past.  Also, it sound like you have some type of arrhythmia.  If it bothers you enough that you are very concerned about it I would probably go see a specialist.  they can order a Holter monitor or an event recorder to better identify the extra beats.  sometimes nothing needs to be done, as in the case of PAC's.  But if it is some sort of arrhythmia that is more sustained, there may be something that needs to be done about it.
