heart

hi my name  k. my question is that i had a irregular heart beat and i went to the emergency room thinking i was having a heart attack but they told me it was nothing. so i went to my doctor and he did a e.k.g. test and i came out fine. he also did blood work and other test on me and said everything was fine. he said it could have been anxiety. they also put a holter monitor on me for 24 hours and it was fine. but my question is does this mean i'm healthy? i also want to know when they do blood work can they know if i have clogged arteries or anything else i could get checked

lopes,

listen to the doctor when he said get an event monitor (loop recorder).   it's basically a mini-ekg that you wear around for a month and press a button that records when you feel something odd.   i bet you were having palpitations, and people with those almost never get them caught during a regular EKG and thus it looks like "nothing is wrong"

another thing,   it never could hurt possibly hurt to have a stress echo done (the only thing it might hurt is your wallet),   but it's a very decent and safe test 4u

well it helped a bit but if i did all the exam such as blood work and the egk should i worry about having a stroke or heart attack. i'm 24 years old and they told me at my personal clinic that it could be anxiety! how can i make sure it is anxiety and nothing else

There are other test that can be performed, but whether or not they should be performed depends on you risk factors for coronary disease: age, sex, smoking, diabetes, family history. If you are young and have none of these, then it is appropriate to perform an event monitor to document your arrhythmia when it occurs ( if very infrequently ). If you have some risk factors, then a stress test may show ischemia and then you may need further medical therapy or stenting.
