help me find a doctor in nyc

by mel111magnolia, Mar 21, 2009 11:35AM
I am a 44 year old woman who has lupus and has had pericarditis episodes through out the years.  I have been in the hospital and almost had it drained but the fluid went down slightly and they decided to hold off.

I am now on so many meds and my rhumotologist thinks I am going in with full guns with meds and feels like this should have passed by now.

since december of 2008 i have been on medications and keep increasing dosage and adding more meds

now i am on
plaquinel 400 mg
mobic 7.5 two times a day
colchicine 3 times a day
steriods 24 mg a day

the fluid the last few echos have either been the same or getting worse,  the cardiologist said it was up to me to get the pericardial window done or keep trying for differend medications to kick in.

i have an appointment on the 25th and I think they want me to decide then,  i would like a name of a cardiologist asap to see that SPECIALIZES IN PERICARDITIS             PLEASE  HELP ME  I AM SCARED AND DONT KNOW WHERE TO TURN

i need one in nyc  i live on long island but will travel

help

try calling new york presbyterian hospital. they are suppose to be a top hospital for heart care and surgery. you can ask for physician referral. you can also go on the internet to their website to find a cardiologist who specializes in your condition.
