this is for  dquenzer are you sayin atrial flutter cant cause clots or just a flutter feeling? cause atrial flutter can cause blood clots i have atrial flutter and have been cardioversion 2 times for it the first they had to wait cause of a blood clot in my heart.

I had atrial flutter before my first ablation. I would think if it lasts long enough, a clot could form. According to my EKG book atrial flutter is regular and the rate runs from 250-400 bpm. Atrial fibrillation is very irregular and typically runs over 400 bpm.  With atrial flutter there is a consistent ratio of 2:1 or 3:1 for example. So if your atrium is beating at 300, your ventricle response would be 150 bpm at a 2:1 ratio. With fibrillation,  the pulse you feel would be all over the place, fast and slower.
