hiatal hernia, gas and palpitations

I've had atrial fib on and off for years and experience has seemed to point the finger at excessive stomach gas. I also have a "small" hital hernia which I believe is somehow involved. Lately nothing seems to work to abate the dailly excessive gas and palpitations. Doctors just arent interested in discussing it. An old doctor did agree with me instantly about 15 years ago when I told him about an incident when I bent over with a full stomach and was hit in the chest with what seemed a hammer. I went into wild atrial fib (the first time) and was scared to death but took an atenelol which seemed to calm things down after an hour or so. I converted in any case and next day was up and ready, more or less, to go to my uncle's funeral with my grieving mother the next morning. I relate all this to ask if anyone else has a hiatal hernia (many have it but are not aware of it) and if they feel it's involved with gas and palpitations.  My gastro guy took a look down my guillet and, after ultra sound, said it was all about the gall bladder. I went to a fine surgeon who said he wasn't at all convinced of that. Frankly, I'm also concerned that daily prilosec for the past year may  be involved. It surpresses stomach acid and thus may slow digestion causing bacterial growth and gas. Maybe. I do think that many people with this condition are anxious and, if not at the start, are by the time they've had many atrial fib attacks (mine last up to 12 hours). I am 79 and male and otherwise is pretty good health except for Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemia in remission. Could the WM be a factor?
