high blood calcium, fast pulse, and lots of other things going on.

Over the last month I've had chest pain and arm pain that also goes up into my neck and back. I had dizziness as well. I am only 18 years old and 110 pounds. I did smoke but have not for the past two weeks. My doctor told me  my blood calcium is slightly elevated and is nothing to worry about, however, I can't help but worry. Also for about the last 6 months I get random sharp pains shooting through my neck. (VERY Painful) Every time I go to the Dr. or ER I am told my pulse rate is very high even before all this happened. What is going on? I was given a echocardiogram but havnt heard back from the doc yet. Someone have any ideas??

The slightly elevated calcium is probably of no concern in you, although, if you are very worried I would suggest seeing an endocrinologist about it.  As far as your chest pains go, they are very unlikely to be caused by your heart, as in heart attack, etc, because of your age.  They are most likely musculoskeletal in nature.  Sometimes hypercalcemia can cause bone pain but that's usually associated with much higher abnormal calcium levels.  I am almost certain that your echocardiogram will be normal.  I also sense that there may be some anxiety in the background which is probably what could explain your elevated heart rates while in the doctor's office or the ED.  These elevated heart rates aren't usually dangerous, they are just a sign of elevated sympathetic tone, what we call the fight/flight response, a normal phenomenon.  I bet your heart rate isn't elevated when you are resting and relaxed.

Actually my Dr. told me to check my pulse first thing when I wake up and before I get out of bed. He told me to count it for 30 seconds then times it by 2, if it is over  70 it is not good. Everytime I do that, it is way over 70. Also I was in the ER last night and once again my blood pressure was high. Every time it is checked, it is very high. Why could this be?
