hilar adenopathy

by htm2us, Sep 27, 2002 12:00AM
my 27 year old son has been recently diagnoses with sjogrens syndrome. he does have high blood pressure and is on 320mg of diovan. he also has a problem with cholestrol -and is on lipitor 20mg and welchol 625 mg .on a chest x--ray confirmed by a chest cat scan he has hilar adenopathy. from reading i know sjogrens can cause this but could his high blood pressure also be a contributing factor? thank you.

htm2us,

Thanks for the question.  I hope your son is doing well.

Hilar adenopathy refers to enlargement of the lymph nodes in the area between the lungs.  Hypertension (high blood pressure) does not cause hilar adenopathy.

Hope that helps.
