i have sinus tachycardia

i have been told by a heart dr. that i have tachycardia and also trace leakage in the tricuspid vaulve...is this a sereous problem and should i do a follow up      thanks
Dear Lynn
The trace leakage of the tricuspid valve should not pose a problem to you. Your doctor should just keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't get worse in the coming years (probably will never bother you).
Sinus tachycardia is in and of itself usually not abnormal. Rarely, it can be caused by abnormal electrical circuitry in the heart and need specific treatment. Usually, sinus tachycardia is the result of an underlying condition such as an overactive thyroid, dehydration, anemia, fever, or a number of other causes. You should get a follow up visit with your doctor.
I hope this is useful. Feel free to write back with further questions. Good luck.
