irregular heartbeat during sleep/waking

I apologise in advance if this is a common question, but not being able to put a "name" to what is going on, I found it difficult to find anything similar in the archive.
My query is in regard to an irregular and slow heartbeat that troubles me during sleep to the point of waking.
My pulse appears to be totally without rhythm during these episodes, but returns to a more natural beat after I get up and move around for a while.
Some episodes actually invade my REM sleep, where I dream about my heart staggering its beat, and wake up to find it is fact.
Very peculiar, and somewhat anxiety inducing.
I occasionally have the skip/thump during the day that my doctor advised me was "probably PVCs" after a normal ECG....naturally enough none occurred during the test.
Can there be a link between this totally out of rhythm beat and the probable PVCs?
Thank you very much for your time.
