is there a difference

is there a difference

my doctor has asked me to get a cardilyte stress test at the local hospital.  the hospital says they do not do cardiolyte tests but do a myoview test.  is there a difference between the testing and why wouldn't my doctor know that the hospital only does the second procedure.  thanks

It has to do with the manufacturer of the tagging mechanism for the radioactive substance that images the heart. They are equivalent in sensitivity for cardiac ischemia and require equal doses of radiation. Your doctor may not know the difference because he is actually not in charge of administering the doses but only reads them. At our institution we perform only myoview stress tests, but other quality institutions use cardiolyte, its simply a matter of physician preference.
