labetalol side effect ? or ??

Hi all - well here I am again booger the nose. asking more questions about blood pressure medications ..
well im off the verapamil ccb and maxzide -due to a allergic reaction I had , hives !  maxzide they say was the cause.

doc put me on Labetalol 100mg -2 times a day .  well first day I was fine - nothing big just a mild dizzy spell - and broken sleep at night -  the good part the side effects from verapamil and max were totaly gone ! or hidden ..
b.p went down to near normal most of the day,

I couldnt find online anything about broken sleep or no sleep from this medication.  but im sure if its a beta blocker
it will happen ,as it did last night !   if so - what can a person take that isnt habbitt forming -over the counter or natural.
as so no interactions ?

I slept a total of 4 hours - then awoke around 3a.m and cant go back sleep since !! wide eyed and tired but no sleep !

I expected this to happen !  lol

thanks for any help on this ..   if no one ansures me , well - ???

Ha Ha Ha !! got me laughing -  spinach with nuts ? turn on fan breathe deeply ---lol .. that should do the trick !!  you made me smile !!!

im gonna try the melatonin first - then try o.c sleeping stuff..
doctor wont perscribe any sleeping pills due to risk of not getting off them easy !

I checked a few sites no listings on sleepless nights for this med ?
maybe its me !!

so far the med seems ok , no big side effects ?  a little dizzyness
and no sleep last night.. and some palps off and on happend
doc wants me to up the dose from 100mg to 200mg  take 1pill 2x day
that should help get the pressure down and control the palps .. im ok
now though no palps ..

thanks again for reply back.. always good to hear from you
thank you again for making me laugh , I really needed to laugh !

Perhaps with time that side effect may ease off. But it could be a couple of weeks and you'd feel pretty tired by then.

There are the usual OTC things like Melatonin (my daughter has used that a few times) or Tylenol PM (I've tried it but it leaves me groggy and headachy the next day - ick). Besides, before trying any of that junk you need to check with your doc or pharmacist to see about interactions with your meds.

Or there's white noise machine like a fan, relaxation techniques (think yoga breathing and such), magnesium rich foods like leafy green vegetables, cashews, almonds. It sounds so simple huh? Eat some spinach with nuts, turn on the fan and breathe deeply. Ha-ha.

Really, I hope it's just a temporary side effect of the med and that you can stick with this one to lower your BP. That's pretty important. Take care.
