laxitives and the heart

HI
for a long time now I have been having this really bad problem with gas.  I figured out taht If I took laxatives it stoped it I have been taking them for a while and I am wondering what are the symtoms (symptoms) if it might be affecting the pottasium levels in my heart. Right now I my feet soemtimes get a little how cold, and I am wondering if it's realted.

What should I do about it, becuse If I stop taking them I will get terrible gas, is there an alternative laxative or something that won't affect my heart.  And what are the symptoms if it is affecting my heart?

Dear Cherry,

You should discuss this with your phsyician and have your electrolytes checked.  You should not use laxatives chronically unless prescribed by a physician.

You may wish to reduce the amount of carbohydrates in your diet to help reduce this gas.  I would recommend a visit to your internist to sort this out.
