limitations following a stent

limitations following a stent

I just had a stent installed in a main artery 5 days ago for 99% blockage. What can I do about exercise and what is the limitation for lifting when I return to work in 5 more days?

A 99% blockage in a major coronary artery is quite significant. It is likely that many heart cells are stunned and could take anywhere up to a couple of months to recover fully. You will know this by your symptoms. If you exercise and feel no symptoms, then your heart is probably happy. If you start to feel dizzy etc, then slow down. Also keep an eye on your incision area, looking for new bruising or lumps under the surface. You can probably feel a lump now which will be the angioseal, and this dissolves over 90 days. So, let your body tell you when you have reached a limit, it's the only real way to tell.
