losartan use for coronary artery disease

I do not want to take a bp med, i read that potassium bicarbonat, and bananas, are just as beneifical as taking Losartan ,I know it sounds silly, but I just do not want to take  any more meds. I have been doing fine for 5 years after stents, take fish oil capsules, magnesium and vitamin d, recently started 5 htp, don't all these help to keep my arteries from blocking anymore?also take other supplements like co-q 10, b complex. I read about many side effects tfor this drug and I just do not feel safe on it, cannot take ace inhibitors, had allergic reaction, any feedback on this? Thanks

Obviously a doctor believes you need it, I'm betting your blood pressure is increasing.  Believe me, high blood pressure can lead to some very troublesome problems like an enlarged heart.  Why not try it?  See if if works for you.  If you are completely against trying the drug, ask your doctor to try a drug like hydrochlorothizide, a mild drug that can reduce high blood pressure.

I made the mistake of refusing drugs that would have helped me, and I've paid a heavy price to my heart health.  Do be careful.  Keep us informed.

Hi Fly, well I chickened out and started on the Losartan yesterday. I had been monitoring my BP for two days and it was consistantly in 145/85 and a little higher range, I get so anxious about it I might as well just go with it. How long did you fight the meds? I have had about 5 years to try to find things I can live with. Take very small doses of Zocor, and now just 12.5 mg of the Losartan. I am not against it, just having bad stomach and muscle pains, but so far so good.
