I had a sleep study done because I wake up sometimes feeling like I can't breathe. Thanks for your answers!
Because you are worried about your heart, you are tuning yourself in to it. This is not a good thing believe me, it takes a long time to break the habit and you certainly become sensitised to how it behaves. Any missed beat, when it beats faster or harder, you will know about it and worry. I was overdosed on Beta blockers last year and my heart rate was averaging 48 at rest. I was told everything is fine so long as it doesn't go below 30. Every single night all the alarms would go off because my HR dropped to 25-28. After waking me the first few night to make sure I was ok, they just turned the alarms off after that. My cardiologist did tell me that so long as there are no rhythm problems, and you don't feel any problems such as wanting to faint, then there is no problem with a lower heart rate when sleeping. They eventually got it to 40 when sleeping and were very happy with that, I was discharged. I don't think 48 is a problem so long as your ECG looks fine. May I ask why you had a sleep study done?
nothing new that i'm doing. this is just really bothering me. I was up for hours last night, could feel every beat of my heart profoundly. it was driving me crazy!
Others will give a better answer but in the mean time... My heart rate is in the 60's to low 70's and when I'm relaxed in bed can be anywhere between 63 and 53-ish. There have been times when it dipped into the high 40's. This in it self doesn't mean much because we are two different people, I'm not dead yet so it can't be all that bad.
My question would be, are you taking any new medications? new life style? I would get a copy of all the data and give it to your personal Dr for future reference anyhow. I would love to see what My heart does while I'm sleeping, especially my BP. Some mornings I wake up and it's quite low, 80/40 being the lowest recorded.
