: Thank you for your reply about Primacor.  Currently I take 12.5mg of Coreg twice a day.  The generice name is also carvedilol.  What is the difference between the two?  My doctor has asked me to participate in a study involving Primacor. Is there any value to it if I'm already taking coreg (carvedilol).  At present with medications I'm taking-Coreg, Aldactone and lasix my blood pressure runs about 80/60, with dips to 70/42.  One of the problems I have is becoming dizzy if I get up too fast.  Incidentally, I just stopped taking 37.5mg of Avapro daily in an effort to raise my blood pressure.  Do you see any conflicts with these medications and Primacor?  Do you have any suggestions?

  : Dear Ray,
: Oops, my mistake.  You are correct Coreg is the brand name for carvedilol.  Primacor is a new vasodilator drug that is thought to help reduce the load the heart has and improve heart failure.  It does have an increased risk of some types of heart arrhythmias and must be carefully monitored.  Hope this helps.
