I read that you should take asprin and water to thin your blood in the case of a heart attack ... if you do not have asprin handy is there something just as common to take that will provide the same results?

I carry a bottle of chewable aspirin in the car and take it with me when away from the car.  This is a small bottle so it's easy to carry.  Then at home I have one in easy reach and out in the open for all to see just in case I can't get it my self.  My Mother carries a small baggy with three or four pills in her purse.

Aspirin, plavix and warafin (requires a perscription) are anti-platelet agents that help prevent clotting of the blood that can cause a stroke and/or cardiac arrest.  In the event of a heart attack an aspirin taken with 30 minutes and chewed for the best effect.
