"minimal" valve reguritation in 4 valves

by Debscared, Mar 09, 2009 08:54AM
I have recently been diagnosed with minimal reguritation in all my valves. I was recently in the E.R. because my pulse rate (143+), pain in chest and neck pain. Palpatations occur daily, waking blood pressure 141/89 pulse 123. I am on  blood pressure medication and cymbalta (for fibro and anxiety). Have a history of pulmonary sarc and have mild COPD. How concerned should I be about the valves (had an echo 3 years ago and no valve problem at that time) and how do I overcome the pain in the chest, neck and palpatations without always thinking there is an upcoming heart problem. Heart cath revealed "non critical heart condition", Holter monitor OK, tachycardia but normal rythmn, some premature beats...

Make sure that you are eating healthy.  Heart valves can get better on their own if you have a healthy diet and get some exercise.  Lots of fruit and vegetables, brown rice, some salmon.  Stay away from processed meats and red meats. Bake all white meat and steam fresh vegetables.  Try to avoid fast foods and salt intake. Canned vegetables have a lot of salt, so try to buy fresh.  Take any medication your doctor prescribes as your doctor prescribes.  If you have chest pains for 30 minutes, you need to be see by your doctor (ER).  Make sure that your blood pressure is staying down.  Normal is 120/72 and with heart disease doctors usually want it lower than that.  If yours continues to stay out of that range, make sure that your doctor is prescribing you a blood pressure medication that works.  The new way of prescribing blood pressure medication is to prescribe a water pill, which bring down the blood pressure.  It is an old water pill, but doctors are now finding out that patients do better with blood pressure taking the water pill.  Be aware of heart symptoms, but try not to worry about every pain.  I, myself, get a lot of chest pain especially if I forget to take my daily aspirin.  I do not worry about it as my pain does not last anywheres near 30 minutes.  Take care and try not to worry.
