My nephew was born with a congenital
septalUltrasound, ventricular septal defect - heartbeat
Ventricular septal defect defect which was repaired 21 years ago at age 4.The initial surgery failed to
correctCorrect (new formula) the defect and
congestiveHeart failure
Left-sided heart failure
Right-sided heart failure heart failure occured almost immediately after surgery. During the ensuing
emergencyEmergency airway puncture
Emergency contraception surgery, the bundle of his was compromised necessitating a
pacemaker. One year later,at age 5, doctors detected damage to the
mitralMitral regurgitation - chronic
Mitral stenosis
Mitral valve prolapse valve which was attributed to the earlier emergency surgery. Recently, at age 25, my nephew experienced edema in the abdominal area. A catherization has revealed weakened heart muscle compounded by a nearly non-functioning mitral valve. Medication has alleviated the edema. At this point, the medical team at Deborah in N.J. are consulting before making a recommendation. Possibilities suggested have included valve replacement or heart transplant. At this point I am helping my sister to find the very best medical treatment possible for her son. If you feel that you could make a recommendation as to physicians and/or hospitals that could help it would be appreciated.
