What is the range of mitral regurgitation?  ( 0 ----? )  At what point is it considered severe?  3+?   Thank you!

Dear Amy
The usual scale is 0, 1+, 2+, 3+ and 4+. 0 is none, 1 is mild, 2 is mild to moderate, 3 is moderate to severe, 4 is severe. Of course, there is more to evaluating mitral regurgitation than just that scoring system.
I hope this has been useful. I wish you the best of luck. Feel free to write back.

How do cardiologists evaluate someone for MVR?  How do you know if you might possibly have MVR?

Dear SAH
Mitral valve regurgitation can sometimes be heard on a physical examination; it can often be detected on a cardiac ultrasound. It can also be detected on a cardiac catheterization.
