Hi Jake. Achillea is right - the only thing that will put your mind at rest is seeing a doctor. Hopefully you will at least get an ekg or a 24 hour holtor monitor. Your symptoms could have any number of causes, some heart related but others not. The palpitations/anxiety can become a cycle - certainly my palpitations trigger huge anxiety, which in turn can cause more palpitations. If they can catch them on a monitor, I understand it is easy to distinguish harmless pvcs or pacs (which is what most palpitations are) from more serious arrythmias. Good luck at your appointment. Please update us when you get chance.
Really, no one here can give you closure about this, because only one of us--the doc who posted--has a medical education, and even he/she would have to examine you in person to make a judgment.
You only have a few days to wait until you see your own doctor. I would suggest using the time to write a list of your biggest questions about all this beforehand--and take it with you to the appointment (I tend to forget stuff when I'm with a doc).
Hi Jake,
I'm sorry to hear about your symptoms, which sound rather severe and disabling. I'm glad that you'll be seeing a doctor. Given the severity of your symptoms, this is definitely the right choice. I might recommed checking your pulse whenever you have these spells to see whether you have a fast or irregular heart rate. I would also consider keeping a log of when you get these sensations and what you're doing at the time. This will help your doctor determine what's going on. Good luck!
ive got a appointment to go see my doctor next week was just looking for some sort of closure until then do you yourself think this that im dealing with is serious I know I have anxiety but I don't know if my heart is what is causing the anxiety or if its the anxiety causing my heart to go crazy but today I went all day without any flutters or skipping a beat my heart raced a little but that was all
Hi Jake. Palpitations are very often benign and your other symptoms could be caused by a host of benign things, including anxiety. I am sure if you saw a doctor and had an EKG it would put your mind at rest.
I should also add that there was a couple of days ago a while back where I was having trouble breathing on my back this happened like 3 days in a row but then went away haven't had that problem again I thought I was having the same problem a couple days ago but then it turned out it was just trapped air in lungs ... I burped then got relief
