I just read your post on 6/28. It made me feel better in a way to read it....but I am just so stressed over these uncomfortable things...Have you found anything to help them at all? I would appreciate any info you could share. I am already on toprol XL 100 mgs once a day...Someone once said that magnesium helps I try and eat magnesium rich foods like bananas but I am looking for someone to
share experiences....
Thank you for your reply. You are absolutely right that this gets your attention. Just when I get used to these irregular beats, it seems like a new symptom appears. Yes, I have been checked out by the dr, and she says everything is fine, just pac's or pvc's. Question for you, does a compensatory pause occur with both pac and pvc? I really am grateful for your response.
I know what you mean. If you have been checked and the Dr. has seen these episodes you describe and feels that you are okay, then you must be. These things are scary and they really do make you stop for a second to assess what is happening. In other words, they catch your attention. I think it is probably more that attention catching idea than your actually being confused. It is kind of like a surprise knock at the door , or a car pulling out in front of you suddenly. You get distracted and have to get back on track. It takes a minute sometimes to believe that you are okay and to get over the scare. Chances are that if you were with someone at the moment you would probably tend to just go on with what you were doing. An internal medicine Dr. once told me that the extra beats, barring any heart problems, are wonderful little devices that kick in if for some reason our normal pacemaker does not catch the beat on a cycle. They keep the heart beating. Then it catches up and goes on with its normal activity.
Lots of romantic and suspense novels as well as many songs refer to the heart skipping a beat. Everyone does it. Just not everyone feels it. It happens in very normal hearts.
Best wishes in feeling better about this in the future. If not we are all in there to help you until you do.
I am a poor person to ask, I just figure as long as I am still alive its all good. Someone is bound to post that knows better.
Yes, I would call it a little disoriented. I was feeling fine, ( cooking dinner and dancing with my kids) and wow it all paused for a second. Is having a compensatory pause concerning?
thank you for your reply. I am not sure why the confused feeling comes on. Is the pause so post to be that noticeable?
Did you really feel confused and or disoriented? Would flustered be a better word? Sometimes that is how I feel when my heart tries to wig out. In fact today, when I felt it start my vision start blurring too. I became very flustered, especially since I was driving!!!! Needless to say, I pulled over and sat for a bit until everything came back to normal. That was singularly unpleasant.
Thank you for the welcome! Some days they aren't as noticeable, but that pause really gets my attention. Do you ever feel confused or disorientated?
hi, and welcome! When I am having a "string" of them ... (I dont know the medical term..but as of this moment they are almost every beat) my chest feels all fluttery-if I take my pulse I will have 1 or 2 totally regular beats...then 1 RIGHT immediatly after one..like...beepbeep...then a pause...then a beep...then another two almost together...but there is a pause there as well.
So I do experience what you are---as long as youve been checked out completly and told its nothing, like MOST of us here....I havent found anybody who can cure these darn things!
