neurontin

i used to live in the uk,but now i live in spain.
the new doctor i have here has given me neurontin 600mg, one every 12 hours.
in the uk i was perscribe dihydrocodiene 30mg 60mg twice a day,for pain, i was happy with the tablets i used to get in the uk, but the spanish doctor,looked on his computer, and told me that dihydrocodiene was not available in spain, i guess it is,nt prduced here?.anyway i took the neurontin perscribed by the doctor here and ,felt really strange sort of spaced out and very sleepy, i slept for 5 hours in the afternoon really needing it.
can you please tell me what medication is more near the effects of dihydrocodiene, rather than neurontin,that would be available in spain,please
