not having a good day

not having a good day

Hello, Today I am having tons of pac's and I am trying to not let them get the best of me. Can anyone give advice on how they cope with these things? Is it normal for them to take your breath away, and make your chest tight along with that really BIG thump? I've been cleared by the cardiologist as having a healthy heart, but I don't understand why I am feeling this awful. thank you jp

I'm really sorry, I can relate, I'm having a terrible day too.  I've been feeling exhausted, which no doubt contributes.  Today I was just sitting here on the phone and felt a fullness in my chest and realized, when I felt my carotid pulse, that I was in bigeminy.  Not a big deal, but I don't care for it.  I coughed hard and it quit, but I had scattered and fairly frequent palpitations after that for a good hour.  Even breathing deeply triggered more.  I dunno.  Some days are just like this, and we don't know why.  Just know I'm feeling it too right now.  Hang in there.  We will get through this.

Thank you for being there. At least I am not alone, (sorry for your palps). I felt so great Saturday ( painted my living room) and then by Sunday had the pac's with extreme weakness, and it is still with me. Five years ago after the birth of my daughter I started having these irregular beats, went to the cardio and didn't notice anything until the day after having my son. He will be two in July and I still feel terrible. My husband does not understand how awful these things make me feel so thanks again. Jennifer

Same thing happened to me!  I know there are a few of us who experienced a bunch of palpitations after our children were born.  finetilthree is one, and I know there are more.  I truly believe it has something to do with hormonal changes, as mine get worse mid-cycle too.

Hope you're feeling a little better.

Well mine all started right after my hysterectomy, so I don't know if that counts.  Not a baby, but....Yet the doctors all say that it is not caused by that.  Ok?  I'm sorry you are having a bad day.  I am not having a great one today and it is frustrating because this is my 3rd type of medication (tried beta blockers, calcium channel blockers and now sodium channel blockers) with no effect at all. I am still in a funk though that the EP study couldn't get my heart to do what they wanted so maybe it's me.

I don't know what I can tell you about coping.  I try to stay busy so I don't think about it that much.  It's hard though.
I also think tiredness plays a big part.

Hey, guys -  sorry you're going through some rough times with PACs!  Hope it passes soon.  My palps nearly went away during my pregnancy and returned with a vengeance about 3 weeks after.  They are back to normal now, but they were bad there for a while.  I KNOW there's a hormonal component to my palpitations.  They always happen a lot more at ovulation and PMS.  I have come to expect them at those times.

Anacyde - yes, let us know about the endocrinologist!

Everyone - birth control pills actually helped my palps when I was taking them.  I don't use them now cause I don't like the idea of taking hormones, but they did help...more evidence it's hormonal!

Hi! Had to ring in cuz I'm in the same boat as you (plus I was mentioned by name, LOL!).  Palps started a week after I had my third child.... still my daily enemy one year later.  I am still here though.  What have you been told by your doctors?  I have heard everything from hormones to minor stretching of the chambers causing my problems.  I'd love to know the real deal cuz then if it was hormones, I could get some birth control pills or something else to try to get rid of it! Here's hoping you're having a better day!
Take care. Laura

I'm actually going to an endocrinologist soon, so hopefully that will yield some answers and I will happily share the results of anything we find with the rest of you - knowledge is power!  lol ;)

Thanks to all that responded, I am going to try to stay busy so maybe I won't notice anything. I hope you all have a great day!

An endocrinologist deals with functions (or dysfunctions) of the endocrine system - most specifically hormones.  I was born with a condition that can cause imbalances of hormone levels, but I never had symptoms until I began having children.  So, it's time to have a whole bunch of blood tests done.  My palpitations appear to be hormone-specific, and the situation is not improving.  My cardiologist says it isn't the structure of my heart - that's great - so I'm hoping the endocrinologist can help me now.  I'm not getting my hopes up.  This testing may yield nothing.  I do, however, remain cautiously optimistic.
