numbness on left side of body

Often at night while lying on my left side I also get numbness in my chest on the left side and sometimes chest pain.  Last night was the worst I ever experienced with numbness all along my left side from head to foot.  I was also dizzy, felt some nausea and had some trouble speaking.  I went to the ER and they told me I was in excellent condition and sent me home without performing any tests such as EKG...etc.  The doctor at the ER was even angry and told me to make a doctor appointment.  I'm 42, work out a lot, and this is my first time at the ER.  Has anybody else experienced a problem with numbness along the left side of their body?

Hello,

I have just recently started to have numbess in my left leg, left arm and both feet and hands.  It freaked me out one morning it took 4 hours for the numbness to go away before I could get out of bed.  I went to my doctor on Friday and she is doing a blood test to check my vitamin B-12 levels she said that sometimes when your B-12 is really low it can cause this.  If the levels are low all you need is a few shots of B-12 and a supplement.  Hopefully this helps and hopefull this is the case for me too because it is so freaky!  Good luck

Hey Greg10,

I am 32, and I have been experiencing this symptom for like 3 years now, only just recently its starting to really bother me.  Its been sticking around for like 2 days now. Before it would just occur for an 1 or so or maybe a few hours.  It starts in my shoulder, upperback, neck area. ONLY on the left side. It starts to kinda feel numb or sore. My ear seems like its bocked so I have to swallow saliva. I try to crack my neck sometimes and it helps at times. It seems like its only the muscles on the left side, because my organs kinda feel fine.  My joints feel like they are blocked, so I have to crack them ( like you crack your knuckles). Once I crack them a few times, I feel the energy flow back into my left side.   Its weird. I have tried pain killers, medical marijuana and NOTHING.  I have had test before and all came back negative.
I will be headed back to a sports medicine doctor to see if they can find anything.  Let me know if you find out what the hell this is....cause its bugging me.
