pacemaker sydrome!

I'm 38 years old, with a nine year old pacemaker. I have known for about 2 years the battery was getting close to need replacing. I have always had pacers appointments about every three months. Since the start of this year I have been going every two months, when I reached one the the two marks for replacement. Well the September visit showed I was very close to the 2nd mark. (needs to be 2.71, my reading was 2.6?) So now I get to go back in two weeks. I was told that since my 100% paced, small(5'2" 115) and young I could feel my heart beat funny-- top part does not beat, and the bottom part beats poorly. My dr called it pacemaker sydrome. I was told if I feel this call 911, don't drive to the hospital, but also told it will not killer me. Any advise! :}}

Hi, I am 41 and on my third PM, I have been experiencing Pacemaker Syndrom for this last year, I get avery load thud and pulsation in my neck, a feeling of fullness in my chest and then like a head rush...my doctor said what happens is that the ventricular fire off ahead of the (right side) atrium so that there is no syncronisity between the chambers, and it is banging againist a closed valve, something like that.  But I had an echo last week and now he tells me that I have a low EF 38% and that my septal wall is abnormal causing an abnormal rythmn in my left ventrical and that he is considering fitting bi venticular pacing, I would appreciate any advice on this also, what i going on.  I had av node ablation 11 years ago an my first pacer fitted, I am 100% paced.  Also I think you should go ahead and have your pm replaced why wait to the last minute??? I am 5'3" and 112lbs and healthy in every other way as well, normal BP
