palpatations

My daughter is 21 years old and has been admitted to hospital a couple of times for heart Palpatations she is now on Beta Blockers and has been for a few months, i want to know of a specialist that we can see (even if we have to pay privately) that will be able to let us know what is going on.

Usually her regular physician will refer her to a cardiologist. If there's an electrical problem, the cardio will then refer her to an EP (electrophysiologist) who specializes in heart rhythm problems. Has your daughter worn any kind of portable heart monitor - a Holter for 24-48 hours or an event monitor for a few weeks? That's usually what's done to get a good look at the activity since the arrhy's don't always show up while you're in the doctor's office.

I agree with Ireno 100%   -  if your in a hmo plan or ppo plan  this is what happens !
referals and referals  -  outherwise you can go directly to any Cardiologist for help
or testing - if you pay for it !

Has your daughter been evaluated by a cardiologist?  had an echocardiogram?  Do you know if she has a "structurally normal heart" (determined by echocardiogram)?  

I'd also suggest a cardio referral if that hasn't happened yet.  What diagnosis has your daughter been given?  If she has had a cardio workup and the doctor feels confident that the extra beats are benign, it becomes a matter of a second opinion.
