paused heart beat

For years I have had skipped or paused heartbeat. It is more frequent now. It pauses then when it beats again it thumps harder then a normal beat. It also makes me cough..makes me have coughing sensation in my chest. No other symptoms it just makes me wonder what is going on. It comes and goes and even happens when I am resting just watching tv and relaxing or up doing something. I have looked on the web but not satisfied with what I am finding. Anyone have any answers?

Sounds like your having pvc's -premature ventricular contractions- Ive been suffering with them a few months myself and they are no fun at all. Im sorry Im not much help because I am learning more about them myself but heres a little info for you :)

Premature ventricular (ven-TRIK'u-ler) contractions (PVCs), also known as "extrasystoles" (eks"trah-SIS'to-leez), are "extra" heartbeats. They arise from an irritable area in the heart's lower pumping chambers (the ventricles). PVCs interrupt the normal heart rhythm and cause an irregular beat. This is often felt as a "missed beat" or a "flip-flop" in the chest. PVCs are often harmless, but when they occur very often or repetitively, they can lead to more serious rhythm disturbances.
