pediatric pulmonary vein displacement

My 5 year old grandson has right side heart enlargement. He is otherwise asymptomatic.  Two pediatric cardiologists say that one of the pulmonary veins is either displaced or missing.  They recommend surgery to correct this.  He had an MRI to diagnose this.  My son is resisting the surgery because he has no symtoms (symptoms) that are visiable.  How important is it that my grandson have the surgery and what are the consequenses if he does not

He should have the surgery.  He is at risk for developing pulmonary HTN and right heart failure.
